Congratulations!! That's awesome :) I really, really want a carder but I am hard pressed at this point to make the investment....too many other places for the $$ right now.
Do let us know how it goes when you give it a test run :)
I'm doing as you did, saving as I can - they are so worth the investment. What I would save by not having to send out wool ! Which brand did you purchase if you don't mind me asking? Any particular reason why? I've been doing some research, making sure I get the one which will suit me best. Have fun :)
Deb, we ordered the Fancy Kitty Kitten 90/120 from Anderson Orignals here's a link http://www.fancy-kitty.com/carders1.html
Jim liked all the materials, construction and mechanical aspects, the warranty, the poly belt vs. the metal belt,it's hand crafted by a company in our home state (MO). It also says will produce a 8.5 inch by 22 inch batt even though is a smaller carder.
We could have went to visit the shop and picked it up, but shipping was cheaper than the gas to drive a couple hours.
The gentleman was also very very helpful and informative when I called and asked a ton of questions about carders and carding cloth in general.
Last but not least I was referred by a friend of a friend who loved her's.
Love it! I'm sure you will enjoy having it. The belt looks like mine. One suggestion. Take the belt off when not in use. It will keep it from stretching out. Mine stretched out after years, but upon doing research, it could be cut and melted/fused back together. We did that and it works like new. Only thing is that mine is so old that the teeth are coming off of the carding cloth. Time to get a new drum or cloth! --Cathy
Drum carders are great. I recently got the strauch finest and I really like it. I hope you enjoy your as much as I have been enjoying mine. It sure beats hand carding.

Thank you :-) I have been wanting this for a long time. Have been saving pennies.
I definitely will let you know how it goes.
The carder will actually pay for itself in a short time. I won't have to send fleece off to have it processed. :-)

Hope that helps a little.
