Farm Photos

Worked a bit on cleaning up the barnyard and the yard this weekend. Managed to remember to take my camera.
We are greening up nicely

Annie one of our pet goats (she was the first baby born to the farm)

These girls were all bottle babies. Here we are years later...they still want that bottle. (I filled it with water after I drank the Dew) But yes they do love a sip of Dew every now and then. Actually Sprite or 7up is the best, no caffeine. The carbonation does not harm them, the amount of sugar is my main concern.
Buffy and Camel couldn't wait for me to fill the hay feeder .

This is Barb, our purebred LaMancha doe. She is definitely annoyed I disturbed her for the photo.

Selena (yep, she is a big puffball, shearing is thankfully coming up in a week)
PittyPat and Scarlet (wishing and hoping for me to open the gate)

The boys are so noisey right now, it's mating season.
Strutting his stuff.
The baby chicks and mom
Til next time, have a good one :-)

One Less Worry

View from the front porch this morning...

I was actually very happy to see the guys show up. Have been waiting for about 3 months to have a problem taken care of. We had a large branch growing on/over the power line. The branch was putting pressure on the power line and connectors at the pole to the house. There were also a few other smaller branches in Axle's pen that were pressing on the power line.

The guys used the bucket truck to reach the branches that were close to the house.

A ways up there...
One tech tieing off the branch to the truck

The same young man that tied off the line above, also trimmed the branches on a tree in the middle of Axle's pen. No bucket truck this time. He gafted the tree, with chain saw hanging from his waist. I was impressed, I have not seen anyone gaft a tree or pole since I worked for the cable company years ago. Can't see him very well, though if you look over the black rack on the truck (in between the two red lines) you can see him cutting a branch. They gave me permission to take photos, though asked me not to step off the front porch while they were working or I'd gotten a better shot.

The Weekend

Look what the better half brought home :)

Sunday we let the sheep out of their holding pen to wander about the farm, hoping they would go out and graze. Angus, Aberdeen and Kirby headed straight for the hay room.
Baa Baa Black Sheep Kirby was the only one in the bunch to start nibbling at grass.
While we were working on the new milk room Sarah Beth came to check things out.

Childs Play

On a recent visit to the farm, my 11 year old great niece took a few photos. She sent them to me yesterday. I thought I would share her view of things.

Wild Flowers

Just thought I would share a few of the wild flowers we have around and about the place. I am not the best photographer, so I apologize for the poor quality of photos.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!

Stormy Weather

We have had a bit of severe weather again in our area. Thankfully the worst missed us. Sunday morning we did find this when we opened the front door.

The large tree was at our drive way entrance. It sat on the property line. Luckily it fell towards the neighbors land. If it would have fallen the opposite direction it would have fell on my sisters car who was visiting for the weekend.
